Frequently Asked Questions
What is the purpose of the initiative?
The initiative aims to empower pastors in Zambia through the provision of livestock—goats and poultry—as a means of sustainable income generation, improved nutrition, and enhanced community ministry. It also serves as a platform for evangelism and community transformation through a “pay-it-forward” model.
How does the initiative work?
Pastors receive a starter grant of livestock (typically 4 female goats and 1 male, or 5 chickens including a rooster). They are trained in animal husbandry and veterinary care, then supported as they build a herd or flock. Within a year or so, they pass on livestock offspring to other pastors or congregants in need.
Who is eligible to receive animals?
Pastors and ministry leaders are selected based on spiritual commitment, financial need, and their ability to sustain a small-scale livestock operation. Selection is made by trusted local leaders, including Rev. Murekezi and Bishop Llama.
What kind of training do pastors recieve?
Training includes basic veterinary care, nutrition, shelter, disease prevention, and sustainable livestock practices. This is supplemented with periodic follow-ups and veterinary check-ins from local or international partners.
How many pastors have been helped so far?
As of 2024, 28 pastors have received 96 goats, and 106 pastors and key leaders have received 106 chickens. Additional distributions are ongoing each year.
